In a few weeks of testing, Mythos identified thousands of vulnerabilities in the major operating systems and browsers \u2014 some of which had existed for more than 25 years, invisible to decades of human audits and automated testing.<\/p>\n
The problem isn’t that it’s good. It’s that it’s too<\/em> good to be freely available.<\/p>\n \u201cToo powerful,\u201d what does that mean concretely?<\/strong><\/p>\n It’s not a question of creativity or productivity. It’s the moment when a model allows anyone \u2014 including poorly qualified malicious actors \u2014 to cause disproportionate damage: industrializing cyberattacks, scanning millions of lines of code, generating functional exploits. Automatically. Without supervision.<\/p>\n The real warning signal: the control switch. When the tool moves from \u201cpowerful assistance under human supervision\u201d to \u201cuncontrollable autonomous capability,\u201d the question isn\u2019t about performance anymore. It\u2019s: who decides, in what framework, with what guardrails?<\/p>\n What Anthropic has chosen to do<\/strong><\/p>\n Rather than a public launch, access is limited to about fifty organizations (Microsoft, CrowdStrike, Apple, Palo Alto Networks\u2026) via Project Glasswing. Mission: use this power to strengthen global cybersecurity, not to weaken it.<\/p>\n This is a major precedent. The first time since GPT-2 in 2019 that a leading AI lab has voluntarily withheld a model.<\/p>\n What this changes for us<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2192 The \u201csame AI for everyone\u201d narrative is over. Some models will never be public. Access to advanced capabilities will become a differentiating competitive advantage.<\/p>\n \u2192 The limit that matters isn\u2019t brute power. It\u2019s human control over the machine.
